MAY....

Kalei's dance recital....

(kalei with her proud daddy!)

(kalei is in the front, on the left with her arms up)

This year we decided to do something different than dance and put Kalei in tumbling. She of course had an awesome teacher (Suzanne Cummard) at Higher Ground Dance Studio. She learned so much and had a blast. I think she had ants in her pants waiting for it to be her turn. She was not nervous at all!! She did such a good job on stage in front of such a big crowd. I didn't realize how much she was really into dance until at the recital. She wanted to stay the whole time (3+ hours) to watch everyone dance. This must be her little niche cuz it sure ain't sport, well at least not soccer! They dance or I guess I should say "tumbled" to the song "what time is it" from High School Muscial. Good Job Lei's!

Of course, we had to end the night of right by going to Nielsens Frozen Custard!

APRIL....

Kalei graduates from pre-school...

YAHOO!! Kalei has been waiting "for forever" to be able to say that she finally goes to the "big school". She has had some awesome teachers at ABC Express these past 2 years. In December, of this year her teacher Mrs. Merrill passed away with cancer. Kalei loved her!! She was so good with the kids. Mrs. Merrill is the one that started ABC Express. While sick in bed she would visit the kids (in her garage) and sing songs with them and let them know how much she cared about them.

I will never forget when she passed away. I didn't know how Kalei was gonna react, or how I was gonna tell her what had happened. After talking about it with her she sat for a moment thinking about something in her mind and with a concerned look on her face says..." mom she was just really sick. when is she coming back?"... we discussed what happens to our body when we die and where we go. she sat there and thought for a minute and says " mom my teachers favorite song is...you are my sunshine....she can't hear us sing it to her but we can feel her in our heart!" she then puts her hand over her heart with a big smile on her face. Yes, i did my best to hold the tears back for the moment!! That was a sweet moment I will never forget!

BINKY THIEF....

I'm a little late in posting this story..but hey a little late than never. SO these binkies shown would be Naelani's choice of binks! Let me back up a second...Talan and Naelani are 14 months apart. They both sleep in the same room. They both LOVE their binkies but each take a different brand, so to speak. Talan is about 2 1/2 now and is a big boy. In December we decided that we were going to attempt to potty train him because Justin was going to be home for the Holidays. It was either then or the Summer time and I couldn't wait that long. I was done with buying 2 sets of diapers! So we did it and he did very well. Talan is also a binky boy, his nickname has been "brother bear" because the kid goes into hibernation when he sleeps. He takes super long naps during the day, sleeps well at night etc. That is as long as he has his binky. SO..we decided this last month that he was doing awesome with potty training and he was a big boy so we needed to get rid of his binky. The only time he was allowed to have it was when he was sleeping anyways. Well that did NOT go over too well, the kid regressed majorly. Potty training went out the window. He was having accidents left and right etc. Well after about a week of that he was finally getting over this bad habit. In the meantime Talan kept waking up really early between 5-5:30ish every morning and would wake up Naelani.

Well one morning in the monitor I heard Talan get out of bed...I jumped out of bed so fast to avoid him from waking up Naelani. To my surprise I found him trying his hardest to be so quiet putting his arms through Naelani's crib and trying to take her binky out of his mouth! Yes, he was waking up earlybird to steal his sisters binkies right out of her mouth. Binkies that he doesn't even care to suck on, that is until his were taken away! When I walked in the room he chucked the binky across the room as if I didn't see it already in his hand. So the next week or so we would have to put Naelani to bed after he was asleep otherwise he would steal her binky from her! There were a couple times that we found him in the morning with a binky in his mouth cuz he got smart and would look underneath her crib for ones that she had dropped and got left under there. What a little stinker!

I must say as of now he is doing a lot better. I think he has outgrown his bad binky habit! His favorite thing now is to find them and put them away, or give them to Nae's when she his honory.

MAGIC MOUNTAIN...

Justin and I celebrated our 9 year wedding anniversary in December. At that time Justin surprised me with a trip to Magic Mountain because we both LOVE to go on roller coasters! We weren't able to take the trip until February. I have been counting down the days. We had so much fun. We were able to just relax and enjoy being with each other, which is something we weren't used to doing. We had a blast going on all the rides at Magic Mountain. The park was so empty. By the late afternoon we were getting a little queezy from going on ride after ride after ride! We had a lot of favorites but I think the one we liked the best was Tatsu!

The next day we went to Knotts Berry farm. I so want to go back there with the kids. So much to do. Per Justin's request we HAD to try the Fried Chicken. Sidenote: anytime we take a trip anywhere Justin always has it planned out and everything researched. SO he found out that Knotts Berry Farm was famous for their Fried Chicken. I must say it was pretty good. Not TO DIE for, but pretty good.

You can't go to a theme park and not have FUNNEL CAKE!! YUMMY!! :)

Thanks honey for great company and an awesome getaway! Love ya!

HAIRCUTS...

It didn't matter that Naelani had cute clips and flowers put in her hair 50 times a day, this seemed to be her favorite hairstyle. She was always straining to see through her hair that was always covering her eyes because she didn't feel the need to keep her bangs pinned back cute. SO I decided to take matters into my own hands and cut her some bangs. AWE...much better. Now you can see her big blue eyes!

So I made the mistake of cutting her bangs in front of the kids. The next day I was at the store with my mom and from across the checkout counters she is mouthing to me "who cut her hair". I mouthed back "I did"...she laughed to herself and said "oh no you didnt". Well, needless to say one of her siblings decided to try cutting her bangs as well. She had a big chunk of hair missing from the top of her head. Good thing she has a lot of hair to cover it up. When the kiddies were asked who did it Kalei swore up and down it wasn't her and Talan said "i cut my hair" which probably means he did it.

MR. MISCHIEF...

Yes! That is exactly what you see...HOLES!! I had just gotten the kids ready for the day. I was jumping in the shower when Kalei comes running in saying "mom come look at talan's pants" my response was "what do you mean his pants ?? tell him to come here". So Talan comes walking in with a "what did I do" look on his face. I did not have my contacts in and couldn't quite make out what I was seeing until he got closer. WHAT!?! Yes...he had climbed up on the counter...pulled the kitchen scissors out of the knife block and CUT holes in his pants! This was just the beginning of his Mr. Mischief moments.

Talan LOVES to hide in places and do naughty things...like dumping a bottle of the powdered comet (the kind you clean the bathroom with) all over the closet and all over himself! Or dumping a bottle of Baby Powder all over the room and himself, in the dark for that matter. Or what about him dumping formula from the diaper bag all over the floor WHILE cleaning up the comet mess and then adding water to the formula to make paste all over the couch and floor. Yes he has been double trouble just all of a sudden. We all now know that if you haven't heard or seen him running around within a couple of minutes then he is hiding in a corner doing something he probably shouldn't be. Gotta love em'. He keeps us on our toes thats for sure!!
